What is Detroit-style pizza?

Detroit-style pizza is baked in a rectangular steel pan, so the crust is thick and soft inside and crispy underneath. The cheese goes all the way to the edge of the pan, where it melts into a crunchy, caramelized crust, and the sauce goes on top. Little Caesars was founded in the Detroit area in 1959 and added Detroit-Style Deep Dish pizzas to its national menu.
